If you've been in the military before, you can easily tell the building was a barracks at one point and time. (Motel style) There are no elevators and there are numerous large spiders hanging on the walls and ceilings. I walked through countless webs trying to make my way up to the third floor to find my room. As I followed the signs to my room number, I realized that the doors didn't have numbers on them. How and the world am I supposed to find my room without a number on the door? I had heavy suitcases and carrying them up and down the stairs was definitely not an option. So I called Navy Gateway operator and they transferred me to the front desk. As I waited, I kept a close watch on everything i had to make sure no spiders decided to hitch a ride and became a roommate. Finally, the second staff member answered and told me that the room was there. Well yes. I figured that part out but WHERE? She told me to take the walk way behind the doors without numbers. And voila there it was. Now following the signs no one would know that because they lead to numberless doors....

Rooms are tight but adequate. Nothing on base is open after 1700 on Sunday minus the gas station. Celebrate if you have a car, on orders can be miserable. The staff is good and the rooms are clean.
The room is clean except for the water stain on the ceiling in the bedroom. Outlets are easy to reach and the area is near Downtown DC and it's quite cheap. This Gateway wouldn’t be my first choice if I come back but I will choose this place to save money.

Found a mouse living in my room but staff was kind of enough to allow me to change rooms. When receiving mail while you're at the hotel it may take a few extra days to get to you as the mail goes to a mail facility first and then the hotel.

Upon my initial check-in, I was greeted warmly by two staff members. The one that checked me in gave me directions to my room and a base map. My fight arrived late at night and I couldn't wait to get to bed so scurried my way to the building next to the main building. Maybe I was too eager.

Anyway I'm in the room... pitch black. I feel for a light switch on the wall. Yeah there are no light switches. So I had to use the flash light on my phone to find a lamp.
