I was super excited when REI announced that DC was getting a flagship store. REI member since the 80s. I have been to the amazing flagship store in Denver, so that is what I was expecting. As others have noted, that is not what we ended up with ... The store is focused more on clothing than gear and there seems to be too much brand emphasis and not organization around like items. The much smaller store in Bailey's Crossroads (Arlington) is much better organized and has a great selection of gear. The only thing I'll use this "flagship" store for is as a place to pickup online orders that I have shipped to the store. Disappointed. Upside: the La Colombe is awesome!

It's possible that a thief tried to steal my rear bicycle wheel, but far more probable that the REI bike technicians working on my rear bicycle wheel forgot to lock it down when they finished their work over the weekend. The wheel fell off earlier today. REI was nice about it when I called to complain, but will definitely take my bike elsewhere going forward.

Great selection and helpful staff....when you can find them. I've struggled to find someone to open up the changing room from time to time and the checkout lines can take forever. Would be great if they could staff up a little. Might help make more sales!

Hello mecca! I'll admit, walking in the door of this warehouse of a store was a bit overwhelming - there is stuff everywhere and it's hard to know where to start. But I dove in and found that while there's a lot of stuff, it's all organized into logical and navigable sections. Every time I've been here, the staff has been excellent at answering questions, offering suggestions and helping me find whatever I need. I spend way too much time (and money) here and I have yet to have a bad experience.

I came here more often when it first opened and they used to be more customer focused. Now they don't care. I tried to use a member bonus card and was given conflicting info by the guy at the front door and then was turned down at the cashier. The cashier (short, curly haired girl) got defensive and wouldn't even try to work it out. So not only did I not get to use that card, I will definitely be returning all the other stuff I bought there recently. I'd rather give my business to a place that cares about their customers. Money talks and I know how to walk.
