Also don't miss out on the canteen within the building for authentic and great American Indian Food. Its very different from the popular American food and extremely healthy.

A Blast from the American Indian Past

Wonderful museum, the architecture of the building itself was impressive and the exhibits were very interesting. I was nice to see how they acknowledged the sad things that have happened to the American Indians and they did a comparison of believes and ideologies. Not crowded at all. We spent about 2 hours.

The Café is absolutely amazing! Really enjoyed being able to try more traditional Native American foods with a modern twist. There are lots of options. The Indian taco was to die for and it was a large portion of food.

There are also online shopping options. Loved the collection of books available for kids.

Much improved! It's been years since I've gone, happy I went back. Some of the original exhibits are still there, including Lelani(sp?) Theater but there's a lot more interactive exhibits now, too.

The National Museum of the American Indian is a part of the Smithsonian Institution in D.C. It gives a much better picture of the American Indians and demystifies several facts about this forgotten culture and history. Its a delight to see the beautiful and intricate artwork of the various tribes and how different each group is from the other. The statues of the American Indian heroes in the museum are truly awesome

There are regular, guided tours which can help us understand the various sections in a better way.

Very good place to spend time. Very few artifacts are present here. So one can quickly visit this place. The museum shops have interesting and amazing collection of Artifacts. There is a cafeteria on the lower level of the museum. Entrance fee is free here
