Seriously, the reviews about this independent business are true. Just this last month Dave has responded to 2 emergency issues with our cars. This week I told my fiancee - "this is the mark of an honest shop" - when Dave quickly identified exhaust and electrical issues correctly, conceded his crew could not achieve the needed repairs, and referred us to respective specialists nearby. And his referrals were spot on. One of them - Rayco Auto in Silver Spring - got my piping work completed in an hour at a fair price.
Finally, it should be noted that the night drop system with the Shell staff is easy and you can leave your car after hours on their lot. Super convenient.
A nail pierced my tire and left me on a busy workday with a flat. I found DP Auto the night before on google and am glad I did. It was quite busy in the morning, with many cars in line. That said, they fixed the tire quickly and charged a fair price. Very happy and will definitely be back.
Fall 2017 Update:
David was able to solve a problem that had been triggering my check-engine light for years. I've taken it to multiple mechanics who couldn't figure out the problem, but David solved it quickly and with minimal expense. It was amazing he could identify the issue so swiftly. I've had it for months since that fix and the check-engine light has not ever returned. These guys do great work, are honest, smart and efficient.
My experience here was first rate. I was visiting D.C., to drop my daughter off at school, when my oil light came on. After putting a quart off oil in, no oil was on the dip stick. I looked under the car and oil was everywhere. I was in an unfamiliar city and had no idea where to go. I Googled closest service station and proceeded to DP first thing in the morning. Upon arrival, I was asked what the problem has and my car was immediately on the lift and attended to. Turns out I had oil changed in New York the day before and the filter was installed wrong. Simple inexpensive fix. I was at their mercy and they treated me right. I can't say enough good things about the place. I want to thank the owner and mechanics for turning my nightmare around.
It's rare to get a call about your car where the technician says you don't actually need the repair you thought you needed. The honesty was refreshing and appreciated. I'll definitely come back here for it when the time comes! Oil change was speedy and affordable.
