Staff has always been incredibly helpful, if u ask - I appreciate that as I hate being hassled and followed by overly zealous sales folks at conventional chain stores. They know their business here, and that's all that matters!
While it is convenient located and carries most necessary tools, it also lacks some basic ones. Depending on the staff there it is a hit or miss -- not all are helpful.
Very helpful and friendly
This is not a hipster bar, as we had first thought from afar.
I have been living around this area for the past 15 years, I am not sure how long this hardware store has been here but I have been getting things form here as far as I can remember. I have had great experiences in the pas, the employees that I have seen are very friendly and helpful. However, today I had an extremely negative experience when I stopped by the store to get an item that I needed. The gentleman working at the register was plain rude. I am not sure if he was having a bad day or he just did not like that fact that I was very nice and friendly. I asked if they had the item that I was looking for and he directed me to where the item was in a very nasty manner, when I asked if this was a standard size, He rudely said "there is no such thing as standard but it should work" when I paid he did not asked if i needed a receipt or anything. I guess he was just expecting for me to walk out. when I asked for a receipt he seemed annoyed. I did mentioned to him that he needed to work on his customer service skills that what he said nothing because I am sure he knew I was right. I usually recommend this store to my friends and I try to support local business in the area but after this experience I won't be doing that anymore and I won't be coming back here. There are other stores in the area that I will be going to. I do not know the guy's name, I do not ask but I am sure the owner can tell who was working during this evening.
The staff here is super helpful, I came to get keys made and I was in and out in under ten minutes, very different from my home depot experiences. I will definitely come back for hardware related purchases.
I live several blocks away and have Consisutely been able to rely on Mount Plesant Hardware for everything from replacing switches to tools in prep. for snow. If u are looking for patio furniture, 30 types of lawn mowers, etc. ...I urge you consider that this is a 'NEIGHBORHOOD' hardware store. Not Ace, not Costco, just to be clear.
