Amzing work is being done here for these animals in need. The people of the community need to help as much as they can to have this work continue. They save lives!! Donate and save a life...

My family and I visited the Humane Rescue Alliance on Oglethorpe in Washington DC looking for a new dog for our family. The facility is great. I have been in many animal shelters working as a volunteer and none of them have been as nice and clean as this one. The staff was also great and very helpful and knowledgeable. We were lucky enough to find a dog that fit into our family perfectly. They had same day adoption so she was able to go home with us the same day which was really nice. Our new family member is doing great in her forever home. I would definitely recommend HRA to anyone looking for a pet.

Staff are helpful. The offer discounts on vaccines and have a medical clinic. The medical clinic is by appointment only.

My family is on a tight budget these days, and we would have a hard time affording quality veterinary care at a private clinic. The medical center at the Humane Rescue Alliance is high quality, low cost, and friendly and professional. My dog Max and I enjoyed our visit today, got caught up on vaccines, and I have his neutering surgery scheduled for next week. Thank you !

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT HAVE YOUR NEW PET VACCINATED AT THIS CLINIC. They do not perform a thorough assessment of the pet's condition and pregnancy status before vaccinating and it can lead to horrific results, as it did for me. I took in a stray cat and took her here to be vaccinated. Upon learning that the cat was stray, the workers wanded her for a microchip, but oddly, did not check to determine if she was pregnant before administering a rabies and distemper vaccine. We even asked if she had been spayed and they were unable to tell us. Unbeknownst to us, our cat was pregnant. It turns out that vaccinations can be deadly for developing kittens. Our cat went on to have five kittens, all of which were born sick. Four kittens have died and things are touch and go with the remaining kitten. This has been a horrific experience. At the very least, the veterinarians could have asked how long we owned our cat and decline to vaccinate her since they could not be sure of her pregnancy status. There has to be an easy way to prevent such tragedies.
