I would love to give the place a better rating, because they are there when you need them most - but at the end of the day they seem to know this, and as the only game in town, they seem to milk every penny they can out if you. The staff, by and large, is awesome, attentive, helpful, and caring, exactly what you need. A few interactions were less than stellar over a two month process of weekly visits, and one time someone helping me was completely dumbfounded by a harness for a dog, stating they had never seen one before (?). That didn't exactly inspire confidence...My dog's trainer has a similar 'meh' type review of the place.

Be careful, because they will also interpret your questions as decisions on what you want or not want, without carefully checking you.

I also discovered that they don't take good notes and do not transfer these notes carefully to the next shift. I was shocked at all the mistakes in my pet's files, when I obtained and carefully read them. They also made a serious mistake in assuming something that I never requested, that made my dog's last days there, before he passed away, a horrible and frightening experience. It is never how I would want any animal I love to be treated, especially in his last days. The leadership of this hospital needs to do some careful audits and reviews.

They quickly diagnosed my dog with advanced cancer telling me she could die at any moment, strongly insisted she should stay there over night rather than return home with me and that I should strongly consider euthanizing her as it may be the most loving thing I can do... my gut told me something was off so I went against their recommendations, took her home and quickly found a new vet. My dog shortly recovered from a small intestinal infection that they clearly didn't diagnose and is perfectly healthy. We swim, go on long strenuous hikes, you name it. (For context, they recommended euthanizing her 6 months ago.)

Friendship saved my dog's life. The entire staff is full of wonderful people. I got to wake up to my pup today because of this incredible team. I can't recommend them enough.

24/7 animal hospital. Only one in DC. Next closest in NOVA.

Friendship is extremely busy and disorganized. They have competent people but they make a lot of mistakes. This translates to you needing to be very questioning and ensuring that each person who deals with you and your pet, fully understands what is going on. This also means you, as a layperson, have to be extremely on top of things and making sure that they have understood what you requested and what is wrong with your pet.

Overall, they'll do their best to make your pet better, and that is awesome, but just like human healthcare, it's nearly impossible to shop around and options are limited. I can only imagine how expensive it is to run a 24/7 animal hospital, but expenses I paid routinely went over estimates and left me feeling like it could have been more cost-effective.

**Update: It's been over a year since FHFA recommended I euthanize my dog --due to choosing a different vet-- she's still alive, loving life and symptom free.

Amazing doctors! We use them as our primary care vet for our fur babies and have had use their emergency services multiple times. I love that we can trust them to always take great care of our dogs. Check out can take a bit sometimes, but it is worth the wait.

Thank goodness I followed my own heart rather than their strong suggestion of putting my dog down...my dog would have been gone for no reason.

I only write reviews when it seems absolutely necessary to share (and usually that means it's good news), but sadly that's not the case here.

They're nice, but unfortunately I wouldn't take their medical advice. I've also by happenstance crossed paths with 4 other people having the exact same experience as myself. :(
