I'm very familiar with HIPPA regulations and the nurses would not give vital information to authorized family members and the doctors weren't any better. No one was communicating with the family.
Initial Review (12-26-17) - I’ve traveled the globe and been in medical facilities at so many locations, that I can even keep count anymore.
I'm not sure what happened at Providence hospital (D.C.) but when a friend was admitted over a month ago I often felt that he would have received better care from a veterinarian. He was moved 4 times without notice, the nurses that I dealt with were rude, mean, nasty and lazy. These were bottom of the barrel nurses. My friend had a difficult time speaking and this was not news to the staff, I would press the button for the nurse just to see if someone would come to his room or if someone would ask "can I help" and wait for a response from someone one who could barely speak or if the nurse would just not show up......the latter always happened. I was left with the impression that the nurses enjoyed having a patient that couldn't be his own advocate. Where did you all get these nurses? Would no one else hire them but Providence. Did you get 5 for the price of 1. I would be more than happy to point out each one!
Each contacted me when they received word of my mistreatment and discomfort, while interacting with certain staff. Each was a CONSUMMATE professional and you can tell exactly why they’re in the positions they’re in. I sincerely appreciated their intense focus on my concerns AND their ability to *quickly* find resolution for *all* of the issues I reported to them.
To be clear: *EACH* of the ladies listed above were the epitome of professional excellence, in every area. They literally made up for what could only be described as a horrible chain of events.
This was the worst experience for our dear Mother who needed help and was treated so wrong. Poor nursing services from people who are not Americans/Foreigners with no compassion for humans. Technicians not caring for elderly sick people who ask for help all day! Food is horrible and unfit for consumption. Phone numbers on website have recordings that says the numbers don't exist. Receptionist needs customer services training and skills. Bathrooms are filthy with holes in the walls like rats are eating through them. Social Services workers are unreliable. Just a horrible experience for patients and visitors.
Thank You so much for your help and understanding. Sometimes, especially when we are in serious pain, a bit of understanding & calm/warm professionalism, is all that matters.
EDIT:
-Changin review from 1 star to 4.
With the being said ? - This is the Shittiest, most unprofessional, IGNORANT, collective of customer service workers and overall Healthcare professionals (?), I’ve EVER had the displeasure of dealing with.
I have been at providence Hospital on different occasions ,and most of the staff members I met was great with serving me and my visitors .Specially Labor ,delivery and their recovery department on the 3rd floor were amazing.I can't thank enough all my nurses,Resident Dr.s and attending MDs .I wish I have their names to mention it .You know you are ,and please continue the good work.
The patient pool seems to be made up of poor to lower income people and that's how they are treated. The Sisters or Daughters of Charity need to close this facility. It's a disgrace and shameful that people are treated this way. I wouldn't leave my dog in the care of this place. I feel bad giving it one star because that's one too many. The CEO and all of upper management needs to be blamed for this, collecting a big pay check on the backs of the poor while giving less than sub-standard treatment.
————————————————————
I could go on and on and on.........
It would be dishonorable of me to leave this review the way it was (1 Star) and not change it, given the kind, professional and top notch service I received from their managerial staff (namely the 3 ladies listed above).
Avoid at all costs if you possibly can. This entire place needs an enema ....
I understand you are all working on the culture there and under your leadership, I am sure it’ll turn around soon enough.
I usually have nothing but great things to say about Catholic run hospitals. I have always admired how they give to the community, go above and beyond to assist patients and their families and the employees are usually just as dedicated to the community, patients/families and to the hospital.
Worst hospital ever. I only came here because it was the near hospital by our home and we had to get to a hospital quickly. Would never go here. We arrived at hospital at 11:53pm because my wife is 28 weeks pregnant she was in pain and she was bleeding, we check in, didn’t expect for the wait time to be extremely crazy. We were not seen until 5:46am. Do not recommend this hospital to my friends or family. EVER. They don’t care.
I spoke with both Mrs. Gina Peele, Mrs. Verna Batholemew and Mrs. Yalette Gray.
I’m not sure who does the hiring at this facility in HR ? - but they need to be fired as well, because it is brazen apparent in some cases that quite a few people employed there shouldn’t be: It’s as if *solid* customer service and competency are optional!
Please don't respond to this with the hospitals obligatory "I'm sorry that you or your friends were not satisfied" response because what happened at this hospital was beyond dissatisfaction.
(12-29-17) - Since the below incident took place, I’ve had the opportunity to talk with Senior administrative staff re: the behavior of their workers/employees.
Thank You Again Ladies.
