The wait is ridiculous. You’re better off paying full price for a blowout somewhere where they honor appointments. The staff are not honest on how long it will actually take for you to be seen. Disappointing.
The first three times I came here, the receptionist at the front desk was incredibly rude. Today when I came, they just didn't have anyone working at the front desk. The dupont Drybar is also ALWAYS running at least 45 minutes late. I even called in advance this time to ensure they were running on time, which I was told they were, only to arrive and find that they had not yet taken the 9 appointments ahead of mine. This is extremely frustrating because I plan out the timing of these appointments under the assumption that I will be seen in a somewhat timely manner. But alas I am still here, waiting to be seen over an hour after my scheduled appointment time. When I called corporate and asked to speak with customer service, they suggested that next time I call in advance to check if the salon is running on time.....which I did!!!!! I will never be returning to this location because once again, I am very disappointed.
I visited the Penn Quarter location for the first time for a blowout. I was hesitant because I have extremely thick shoulder length hair that is somewhat hard to manage. I’ve been desperate to find a stylist that can give me the perfect blowout. I am pretty picky about my hair. I was matched with Lucky Marquez, and I am so thankful. Lucky Marquez took the time to ask questions about my preferences. He was very informational about different ways of styling and taking care of my hair. His warm disposition and his impressive professionalism made me feel as if I have been a client for years. I left with sleek and bouncy curls. I have received so many compliments. He provided me with the best blow out that I have ever had. Two weeks later I was still just as impressed with it as when I first left the salon. I am so happy that I have found the perfect stylist. FYI- he works at both the Penn Quarter and Dupont Circle locations. He performs magic! My overall experience was OUTSTANDING. I highly recommend Lucky Marquez.
I had an blow out with Renee today at Dry Bar in Dupont Circle for a wedding im in and it was literally the WORST. When Renee came to get me, she did not introduce herself and just brought me to the station and said “do you know what you want?”. While washing my hair, my neck hurt from the sink so i adjusted my head and instead of asking if i was ok she yelled at me to keep my head still. While blow drying my hair, she burned my ear and scalp multiple times and got mad at me for flinching/moving from the pain. While combing and curling, she yanked and pulled at my hair quickly and was very rough. When i flinched and turned from the pain, she said “Im just heavy-handed. Do you want me to find you another stylist? You’ll have to wait.” She grumbled and sighed when i asked if i could reach for a magazine or change my parting by a tiny bit. She was SO INCREDIBLY RUDE and it was a TERRIBLE and NOT fun/enjoyable experience like it should have been. The manager was very understanding when i complained in person.
I always go to Renee (spelling might be off?!). I LOVE the way she do my curls! From the wash to the last curl she is professional and the conversation is never boring!
One time I had to wait really long but once she started washing my hair the frustration was gone! The prices are reasonable and they have a nice atmosphere! Mind you I usually go in the late morning or after lunch! That could make a difference!? Maybe one day I'll let her have free range on my hair?
