I've been going to RFK for the past 20 years including the first Nationals game and DC United championship titles. Sorry to see ya go RFK my old friend. Only good memories.
We attended the very last DC United match here, and the crowd was fantastic. Because of it's enclosed, ovular shape, the volume can get really loud, which is awesome for a sporting event. There are some decent Latin American food options, which is cool, but I'm really looking forward to next year when United will play at Audi Field. Sure there are some memories that will live on long after RFK crumbles away, but if we're being honest, it's a half century old relic that was way past its expiration date, and couldn't have been abandoned too soon.
It's an old stadium. RFK is at the end of it's life, and it's not being maintained because of that. The amenities are lacking, the paint is peeling, it's a long walk from the metro, and most importantly, the views of the playing field suck.
Very poor. Stadium is falling apart...really, pieces of concrete fall off frequently. Access is difficult and leaving is worse. Parking is not convenient and expensive. The sound system is terrible. Too loud & distorted. Announcements are difficult to understand. Stadium security people are much too tough on guests and way too quick to pounce. The DC United employees were always good & helpful.
Kids liked the food and watching the game. Bathroom was clean. Crowd was loud but kid friendly. Everything went smoothly. DC United won!!
