Poor actuate service for person with Disability, Experience took (3) test , one conselor talk placement, she relocated, the End. Nothing therefore waste 8 months, I mean nothing.
Mayor Bowser can not boast about this department because she failed to listen and kept Laura Nuss as director after winning the election.
This is the worst government agency I have ever dealt with. The caseworkers does not answer or return your calls for weeks at a time. Very unprofessional. The absolute worss
I'm tired of hearing about how ' the caseload is so large' as an excuse for not getting anything done. The lack of initiative is outstanding!
This agency doesn’t help people with disabilities achieve much at all. After I finished college back in 2011 my case worker at the time told me to stay at home with my mother and only look for part time work. A couple of weeks later my case was closed. A year later I found out that the agency help with grad school. I went back up there to reopen my case. I got a new case worker who I meet with one time. We agreed to meet in two weeks she stated she was going to help me find a better job and get me back in school. The follow up never happened. I called and e-mailed her. She never called back. Another letter was mailed out stating my case was going to close again, so I went back up there. From there my case was given to three case workers. The third worker managed to create a plan with me but never stayed in contact. I had to write her boss a couple of times just to get her to contact me back. She finally started working with me but failed to complete everything she put on my plan. I took two classes at pgcc for sign language. I enjoyed the classes and made plans to get my masters in the program, but again this agency found another way to close my case. I went up there a month ago to sign up for another class at pgcc, but was turned away because of the job I have now which I found on my own. They stated that the program only benefits people who have disabilities and work little hours. I found this unbelievable. My case was passed from worker to worker and no one did much from 2011-2016 and now that I work they don’t want to help me at all. This agency needs no stars.
DC deserves better!
This agency and its leadership is defunct of having even an once of care or concern for treating those with disabilities fairly.
Sadly, they are more offensive than helpful. Full of excuses and pathetic excuses rather than reasoning or planning.
Under Director Nuss, it made one mistake after another. One infraction after another. The overall agency remains poorly trained or equipped to serve the residents that are disabled from a traumatic brain injury.
