The cathedral is huge compared to the ones seen in Europe. It's beautiful inside with all the stain glass and statues. Gothic architecture. Take the lift to the 4 floor and enjoy the city views. (MUST DO). We went there in a Sunday just as Mass was over. Got to hear the quire and the mass. Photography is allowed but not during the mass
Check the schedule for times open to the public for viewing. Choir & organ recitals , worship services & other programs allow opportunity to experience the Episcopal National Cathedral at its finest.
A remarkable place, it is. The exterior, Gothic Revival architecture style, of the National Cathedral, is beautiful and magnificent. Unfortunate for us, when we visited this site on Christmas Day, at around 4 p.m., we could not get inside as the Cathedral had been closed. Definitely, we will come back here to be able to discover what is inside.
Absolutely breathtaking! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and kind. After the tour we spent another couple hours going up to the observation floor which was great. Downstairs there is additional works of christian art too. So much beautiful stained-glass and art from different time periods. This is a definite must-see when in D.C.
Pictures don’t do it justice! It is very nice to walk around and admire the architecture and artwork. $12 for adult admission. Nice view of DC from the 7th floor. But the main Nave is awesome to walk into! Plenty of street parking nearby on weekends.
