Delicious meats and foods! This tiny little place is at once cute and functional. I had an amazing half smoke and my wife loved her Frito pie. They still merchandise, as well. Basic condiments (ketchup, mustard, hot sauce) are free, but I recommend getting the sauerkraut at a minimum from the premium toppings. Delicious!
It's very difficult to find a place that sells half smokes by retail but this place is one of the few - and the half smokes are absolutely outstanding. My understanding is they are made on the premises with all natural ingredients. The high quality is evident from the first taste. Ben's has nothing on these. Get 'em by the dozen and put 'em in your freezer so you can enjoy half smokes anytime from the comfort of your home!
Chilitos are maybe the best thing to ever be. One of my favorite places in Bloomingdale.
My favorite cheap eats spot in DC and one of the most underrated Shaw establishments by far. They do fresh sausages, halfsmokes and chili items like frito pie. My personal favorite is the chilito. Their chili is so good and when it's rolled up in a hot tortilla with cheese, it's magical. 2 of my other favorites are the chorizo and salt and pepper chicken, both with peppers and onions. They also have a small but really great beer and non alcoholic drink selection. I like to call in my order ahead of time, or a drink a beer while j wait for my order. The husband and wife team that run this place are always super nice and welcoming. They also sell their sausages fresh to go. You won't be dissapoionted!
I endlessly crave the chilito w/ jalapeños, and love all their sausages (the half-smoke is my favorite). Not a fan of the sloppy joe... it's a chilito but without the best parts of the chilito. Just get the chilito. A super-friendly couple own+run the place.
