Fast forward to Sunday mid-afternoon, I get a call from Press informing me that the work can not be done. No explanation, no apology. At this point they had kept my garment for over three days without working on it or even finding out if the work they promised me could be done. I called back and was sent to voicemail where I left a message asking them to call me back so I could arrange a time to pick it up and speak to a manager.
First impressions, matter, right? The Press offers a new customer discount, but failed to provide it to my wife as she picked up our clothes there - despite her specifically mentioning it. In fact, they assured her it was already accounted for. It wasn't. I went in to pickup our second order and explain the situation; and they tried to give me the discount on our second order - which was half the amount (and, thus, half of the discount). We spent ten minutes and the clerk took three other customers as she tried to figure out how to rectify it - and at the end, we still didn't reach the right amount. Clothes were clean and pressed; but just a avoidable, boneheaded customer service first impression.
Worst experience ever. I will never be going back there! Don't waste your money!!!
Great service; quick turnaround and they're open 7 days a week for convenience
I brought the garment in immediately and the nice lady at the counter again confirmed that the work could be done and done on time. In fairness, she did mention that they contract out their alteration services and that she would have to make sure the work could be done with her manager the next day. I reiterated the need for the alterations to be done quickly and she once again told me that it absolutely should not be a problem.
I very rarely feel compelled to write a bad review of a business, but my terrible experience with Press was so egregious that I think it needs to be shared. I called the Press location in Eastern Market last Thursday to ask if they could make a relatively simple (sewing snaps down the front of a loose-fitting dress) alteration on a tight deadline. I needed the dress for a performance the following Friday. I was assured that they could do it and do it by the following Monday. "How perfect!" I thought. Except not perfect, not perfect at all.
This is hands-down the worst service I have ever experienced in the DC area. I am a local performer who often needs minor alterations or cleaning done. I was hoping to make Press one of my go-to spots since it is a neighborhood business. Not only will I not be back, I will do everything in my power to warn others away from them, including my vast network of performers with similar needs. For shame, Press, for shame.
I guess it shouldn't be surprising that no one returned my call. Finally, I went to the store where the same girl that had promised me the work could be completed handed over my dress again without apology or acknowledgement of the situation they had left me in. She didn't even greet me when I came through the door.
1+ years using The Press. Zero issues. Appreciate that they're open until 8pm on weekdays, and are open on both Saturday and Sunday. Always had friendly service.
