One year and three different Firehooks, the result is always the same: 1) order a mocha, 2) burn my mouth.
Nothing says "bad management" like poorly trained staff. While the baked goods are often nice, I've decided it's time to stop visiting. It's difficult to tell the temp of a drink in an insulated cup, and with a good coffee shop you can immediately drink cappucino-type drinks without hurting yourself.
Don’t allow dogs to hangout in the back area anymore. Discrimination against our furry friends is reason enough for me to not longer support them. DC city council / dept of health allows for dogs so they are just being mean spirited. Plus their cinnamon rolls are dry and not enough frosting on a regular basis.
Nice place & people. ☕ ok,
Great garden in the back. It's like a little Oasis back there. Food is good, self service. I like to take a loaf of bread home too.
This weekend, forgetting my prior two experiences, I scorch my mouth on an insanely hot mocha and three days later the blister is starting to go away. Dear Firehook: please train your staff properly or someone is going to get seriously hurt. Use a thermometer at all times, whatever "technique" your staff is trained to use doesn't work.
Delicious - not enough seating for the guests, but that's a sign of a place that's popular for a reason. I'd definitely go back.
